From first draft to your own domain.
Here's how a site goes from nothing to live on chx4 web, and how your team keeps it up to date afterwards.
Pick a starting point
Start from a blank site, or install a theme. Its pages, blocks, menus and styles are copied into your site, and from then on they're yours to change.
You'll need
Your logo, your colours and an idea of the pages you want.
Build in blocks
Lay out pages in the designer, write reusable blocks, set up your menus and add forms. Templates give news, events and case studies a layout every new page can start from.
Good to know
Everything stays as a draft until you publish it. Build the whole site before anyone sees it.
Review and approve
Preview drafts on the real site. With approvals on, changes wait for someone with publish rights, and every step is recorded in the history.
Good to know
Compare any two versions side by side to see exactly what a change will do.
Go live on your domain
Add your domain and prove it's yours. We set up the bare domain and www with certificates, and the bare domain becomes your main address.
Then
Connect your analytics, add redirects from your old site, and schedule what comes next.
Everyone gets the access they need, and no more.
Grant permissions person by person. Your writers can draft all day without being able to publish, and only the people you choose can export or reset the site.
See your own site in the designer.
Give us 30 minutes and we'll build one of your pages with you, live: blocks, a menu and a working form, ready to publish by the end of the call.
